Gerald Solomon has spent the past two decades leading philanthropy through innovative approaches to connecting education, health and wellness, and skills and workforce development to ensure ALL people have the opportunity to grow and thrive.
He recently served 12+ years as the Executive Director of the Samueli Foundation, overseeing philanthropic activities focused on STEM Education, Youth, Integrative Health, and Jewish Leadership. He led the design and development of numerous national and international initiatives including; the STEM Ecosystems Initiative (www.stemecosystems.org) now in 89 communities around the country, and the North America Scholastic Esports Federation (www.nasef.org), the nation’s first ever STEM and esports initiative, whose mission is to provide opportunities for ALL students to use esports as a platform to acquire critical communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills needed to thrive in work and in life. Taking STEM to the next level of innovation, NASEF is based upon a fully credentialed State of California approved 4-year high school curriculum, CTE curriculum and middle school curriculum as well. In 26 short months, NASEF has expanded to 49 states with over 1,300 schools and 13,000 students connecting gaming and esports play with learning and STEM education. In addition, he oversaw the formation and establishment of The HIVE in Anaheim, a center for nonprofit learning and collaboration, as well as creating LiveHealthyOC, a collaboration to improve the delivery of health and wellness to the community clinic infrastructure of Orange County.
